What Is Cupping?
Cupping involves placing round cups on the skin and creating suction. This suction gently lifts the tissue underneath, pulling blood flow into the area and drawing out stagnation. The cups are typically left in place for five to fifteen minutes depending on the area being treated and the level of restriction present.
At our clinic, we primarily use fire cupping — a traditional method where a flame is briefly used to create suction inside a glass cup before it is placed on the skin. The flame does not touch the skin. The result is a firm, drawing sensation that most patients find deeply relieving.
Cupping works on a different principle than massage — instead of pressing into the tissue, cupping pulls it upward, reaching layers of muscle and fascia that pressure alone cannot access.

How Cupping Works
When muscle tissue is tight, inflamed, or holding tension for long periods, blood flow to that area slows down. Without fresh blood moving through, waste products build up, the tissue becomes stiff, and pain sets in. Cupping reverses this process.
The suction brings a rush of fresh, oxygen-rich blood into the treated area. It loosens the fascia — the connective tissue that wraps around your muscles and can become stuck and restrictive. It also helps the lymphatic system clear out the waste and inflammation that has been sitting in the tissue.
This is why cupping often provides relief that feels different from massage or stretching. It reaches deeper layers of restriction and creates space in tissue that has been compressed and stuck.
What Conditions Does Cupping Treat?
Cupping is effective for a wide range of conditions, especially those involving deep muscle tension, chronic pain, and poor circulation. It is commonly used for chronic back and neck pain, shoulder tightness and frozen shoulder, muscle knots that will not release with massage alone, tension headaches, respiratory congestion and chronic cough, and general stiffness from prolonged sitting or repetitive strain.

What to Expect
You receive treatment on your very first visit. Just wear loose, comfortable clothing.
1. The Marks Explained
The circular marks are not bruises. They are areas where stagnant blood and waste have been drawn to the surface. Darker marks usually mean more stagnation was present, while lighter marks suggest better circulation. They typically fade within three to seven days.
2. After Treatment
Most patients feel a noticeable sense of release and lightness in the areas that were cupped. Some mild tenderness is normal for a day or two. The relief often feels different from massage — deeper and longer lasting.
